The Death of a Soul

When two people become one, that which is formed is a new type of entity, a completion of the Yin-Yang circle that drives life. All sorts of things can attack that bond and degrade it over time. But if it was a true love, one that developed as true loves do, then it will last. Even if one of the two ends up pulling away, the entity will exist and walk the land until the couple is reunited or a way is found to help it dissipate, or evolve and incorporate into somebody new.

You follow me wherever I go...like a ghost whose resentment towards demons is balanced by a longing to be whole again within me and another. I feel you sometimes, smiling sadly, when I reach for what we had. I hear you sometimes moving something in my room, when I get lost in deep contemplation. What we had started off so innocent, as if we were both compelled towards each other and lost ourselves in a mutual need. You made her and I both better and stronger, as we faced down life's challenges. I celebrated you early and wanted to build a permanent altar to you, but the timing wasn't right. I took you for granted, as if somehow thinking that you would always be what you were in that time, as if you would always be by my side to offer a guiding light. And when the demons of the dark forest ripped you away from all who ever loved me or called me friend, you still found a way back to reside within me.

You were with me when I needed you, so I devote these words to you and your ascension.
